About Banishree Scholarship 2024

As you all know, some children have some flaws in them which we call special children. Such children consider themselves weak, due to which they are not able to study further in any field. Moreover, they cannot even study.  Keeping this fact in mind, the Government of Odisha has started a scholarship named Banishree Scholarship. Under this scholarship, it is for those children who have special needs. This scheme will motivate the children to study and provide them with financial assistance with various facilities. So that they can live their life happily and can study without thinking about any financial hurdles.

Objectives Of Banishree Scholarship

The main objective of this scholarship is to provide financial help to students with special needs. This scheme will motivate the students with special needs so that they can continue their studies and live a good life. This scheme will provide financial assistance including many various facilities to the students with special needs. With the help of the Banishree Scholarship, students with disabilities will be able to earn their living. Reader’s Allowance And Transport Allowance Under Banishree Scholarship

The Government of Odisha is providing a readers allowance under this scholarship. For primary classes, the government is going to pay Rs 100 per month. For middle and high school the government is going to pay Rs 150 per month and for other studies. The government is going to pay Rs 200 per month. Other than that orthopedically handicapped students who have 75% or above disability will also be paid a monthly allowance of Rs 100 per month as transport allowance because they will require special arrangements for transport. This amount will be only provided after the head of the institution has certified or verified that the student is studying under his or her institution

• Those students who are studying in the special school register under PWD act 1995(not covered under Government of India scholarship)
• Students who are pursuing distance education through recognized universities/ government institutes

Here are given some important instructions regarding this scholarship:-

• If the student changes the educational institution then he or she will continue to get a scholarshipIf the student wants to file any kind of dispute regarding banishree scholarship then he or she has to file it before the collector
• The decision of the collector will be final in case of disputesUnder banishree scholarship the guidelines can be amended at any time without any notice by the government in women and child development department
• To apply under this scholarship income certificate is not required if the student belongs to the BPL family
• The amount of scholarship will be deposited directly into the bank account of the beneficiary
• If the student is getting the benefit of any similar kind of scholarship from the state or Central Government then he or she cannot avail the benefit of this scholarship

Mode Of Payment of Banishree Scholarship

Here is given the mode of payment if scholarship:-

• After the receipt of payment from the state government, the BDO/sub-collector will deposit the amount of scholarship into the bank account of the students
• The benefit amount will be deposited into installment after all the verification regarding attendance from the head of the institution
• After disbursing the scholarship into the students account the BDO/Sub collector will furnish utilization certificate to the district social welfare officer
• The district social welfare officer will submit the utilization certificate to the state government
• The amount of scholarship under this scholarship will be paid from the month of admission of the student till the end of the academic year which includes a month of examinationIf the student was absent for 3 months due to some medical reason then the scholarship will be paid in full

Implementation Of Banishree Scholarship

The district social welfare officer will have the responsibility of collecting all the forms. He or she will supply these forms to sub collectors, block development officers, heads of schools, colleges, educational institutions, etc. The applicants who are interested in that scholarship should have to fill up the application form. They can fill the form online or offline according to their needs and have to submit the form after filling it carefully. The amount of the benefits will be transferred to the applicant’s bank account by the officer or sub-collector; the forms will be submitted to the head of the institutions to verify the information given by the applicant. 

• Under the forms after the verification of the forms the head of the institution will submit this form to the BDO. 
• The amount of the scholarship will be transferred directly to the amount of the applicant by the BDO.

Sanctioning Authority Of Banishree Scholarship

Here Is given the sanctioning Authority Of this scholarship scheme:-

• After the receipt of the application, the sub-collector or BDO will sanction the scholarship in respect of municipality or NAC areas or rural areas
• Now sanctioning the scholarship the BDO or sub-collector conveys the requirement of funds to the collector or DSWO by 31st August
• After sanctioning the scholarship amount the BDO/ collector or head of the institution will see if the child is having zero balance account if his or her age is above 18 years and if he or she not having a zero balance account then the joint account will be opened in the name of the candidate and his or her mother or father
• The district social welfare officer will then submit the requirement to the state government by 15 September
• After getting the requirement state government will release the amount of the first allotment to the sub-collector or BDO by the end of September and balance funds in the second allotment by the end of January
• It is the responsibility of the concerned block development officer to sanction the scholarship if the school or educational institution up to High School standard is situated in a rural area
• If the school or educational institution is situated in an urban area then it is the responsibility of the sub-collector to sanction with scholarship
• The head of the educational institution is required to verify the application by the records available with them and then recommend for sanction to BDO or sub-collector
