The key objective of the scholarship is to support the education of such students thereby minimizing the incidence of drop-out in the transition from elementary to secondary education. This scholarship has been provided by the Directorate for Welfare of Other Backward Classes and SCs, Government of the state.

This scholarship is an initiative for SC students who are pursuing studies at the post-secondary level.
