About CSIR Bhatnagar Fellowship

This scholarship has been launched by the Human Resources Development Department, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Through the CSIR Bhatnagar Fellowship, the fellows will get a Monthly Fellowship and Research Project Grant. The amount of the Monthly Fellowship will be Rs.50,000 and the Research Project Grant will be of an amount of Rs.3 Lakh. The duration of this scholarship is for 3 years. The fellows who are Scientists and Technologists can easily avail the benefits of this scholarship. The applicant Must be associated with a mission or thrust area program of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research or an area of interest to CSIR.

Objectives Of CSIR Bhatnagar Fellowship

The main objective of launching the CSIR Bhatnagar Fellowship is to provide monetary help to the fellows who are Scientists and Technologists. This scholarship has been launched to leverage the expertise of leading scientists for the innovative technology community. A total of 3 years is the time period for this scheme. Furtherly it can be extended as an additional subject to the evaluation. The Fellowship will be awarded to active Indian Scientists / Technologists who are Retired or in Service in recognition of their significant scientific and/or technological contributions, as evidenced through publications, patents, transfer of technology, honours, awards, etc. Interested applicants should visit the Official Website and can easily apply online.

Selection Procedure

The selection procedure under the scheme is as follows:-

• The Selection of the candidates will be made on the basis of two tire process
• At first tire screening committee constituted by DG CSIR will scrutinise the applications received and selection of eligible nominations will be made
• At second level selected nominations I will go before search cum selection committee for final selection
• Decision made by search cum selection committee has been considered as final decision.

Terms And Conditions

The terms and conditions under CSIR Bhatnagar Fellowship are as follows:-

• Self-nominations/applications are not acceptable.
• The Fellowship is tenable in India.
• The Fellow may continue at his / her present place of work or at any CSIR Institute/ laboratory as decided by DG, CSIR.
• The duration of Bhatnagar Fellowship shall be initially for a period of three years, which can be extended further subject to appraisal for a maximum period of two years or till the awardee attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
• The nominations can be proposed by-
• Vice-Chancellor of Indian Universities
• Directors of CSIR Laboratories
• R&D Institutions and Institutes of National Importance
• Secretaries of Science Department of GOI
• Director-Generals of Major R&D organisations such as DRDO, ICAR, ICMR, IMD, etc. 
• Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission, UGC, etc.
• Chairmen/Presidents of Industrial Associations such as Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), etc.
