About GPAT 2026
Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT 2026) is the single national-level entrance examination for admission to undergraduate medical courses in India. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), it is mandatory for admissions to M.Pharma, Ph.D (Pharmacy), MBA (Pharma Management) and other medical/dental programs across all government and private colleges in India.
The exam is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) format and is available in English. The total duration is 3 hours with a maximum score of 500 marks. The syllabus is based on NCERT Class 11 and 12 curriculum covering Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Every year, over 20 lakh students register for NEET making it one of the most competitive exams in India. The exam score is used for admission to approximately 1,10,000+ MBBS and BDS seats across the country, including AIIMS and JIPMER institutes.

- B.Pharma degree from a PCI (Pharmacy Council of India) approved institution
- Minimum 55% aggregate in B.Pharma for General category (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD)
- Candidates in the final year of B.Pharma are also eligible
- Lateral entry Pharm.D graduates are also eligible

GPAT 2026 Preparation Tips

Focus on Core Subjects
Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry carry the highest weightage. Master these three subjects first before moving to others.

Revise B.Pharma Notes
GPAT covers the entire B.Pharma syllabus from 1st to 4th year. Revise your university notes and textbooks systematically — start with subjects you found easiest.

Pharmacology Drug Tables
Create drug classification tables with drug names, mechanisms, uses, and side effects. Pharmacology questions are highly scoring if you memorize drug tables well.

Solve Previous Year GPAT Papers
GPAT has a predictable pattern. Solve papers from the last 10 years — many questions are repeated or come from the same concepts. Target completing all PYQs at least twice.

Take mock tests regularly to improve speed and accuracy. Many coaching platforms offer GPAT-specific mocks. Aim for 350+ in mocks for a good GPAT rank.

What is GPAT 2026?
GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) 2026 is a national-level entrance exam conducted by NTA for admission to M.Pharma programs at AICTE-approved institutions across India. A valid GPAT score is also required for AICTE fellowships/scholarships.
When is GPAT 2026 exam date?

Is GPAT compulsory for M.Pharma admission?
GPAT is compulsory for admission to M.Pharma in AICTE-approved institutions and for AICTE fellowships. Some state and private universities may conduct their own entrance exams, but a valid GPAT score is the most widely accepted route.
What is the GPAT exam pattern?
GPAT has 125 MCQ questions, each carrying 4 marks (total 500 marks). Negative marking: -1 for wrong answers. Duration: 3 hours. Questions cover the entire B.Pharma syllabus across all semesters.
What is the GPAT qualifying cutoff?
The qualifying cutoff for GPAT is typically around 25th percentile for General category and slightly lower for reserved categories. The actual marks vary each year. In 2024, the General category cutoff was around 170 marks out of 500.
Is GPAT score valid for NIPER admission?
No. NIPER conducts its own entrance exam (NIPER JEE) for admission to its M.Pharma, MS (Pharma), and MBA (Pharma) programs. GPAT score is not accepted by NIPERs.
What is the AICTE fellowship through GPAT?
GPAT-qualified candidates are eligible for AICTE PG Scholarship of ₹12,400 per month during their M.Pharma program. This fellowship is available only at AICTE-approved institutions.
