About This Scholarship
The PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child (SGC) is a University Grants Commission (UGC) scheme aimed at recognising and supporting families who have and educate only one girl child. It is awarded to girl students who are the sole children of their parents (no brother, no sister), pursuing regular full-time postgraduate courses at UGC-recognised Indian universities. Approximately 3,000 scholarships are awarded each academic year. Applicable broadly across M.Pharm (all specialisations), M.Sc Nursing, M.Tech, MBA, MMS, MA, M.Com and other PG programmes — particularly valuable for women considering advanced pharmacy / engineering / management degrees. Applied via the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in) using the now-mandatory One-Time Registration (OTR). Central scheme — routed through NSP, independent of the Maharashtra MahaDBT-CAP integration. Can be combined with state schemes where rules allow.

Eligibility Criteria
Who Can Apply
- Girl student who is the ONLY child of her parents (no siblings — brother or sister)
- Admitted to a regular, full-time postgraduate degree programme (M.Pharm / M.Sc / M.Tech / MBA / MA / M.Com etc.) in a UGC-recognised Indian university
- Up to 30 years of age at the time of PG admission
- Not simultaneously receiving any other scholarship
- Indian citizen
- Approximately 3,000 scholarship seats awarded per year (merit-based allocation)
